The internet programs immediately available with GNOME in this particular version of Red Hat Linux can all be accessed directly from the GNOME panel. The small selection here includes various newsreaders, mail clients, and Lynx, which is a text-based web browser.

One program is called Xchat.  This is a no-frill Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client available with the GNOME desktop in Red Hat Linux. Many more feature-laden IRC clients and graphical chat programs are now available for use with Linux than there used to be.
