In earlier days of Linux and a Linux install your choices would of been less when it came to start a Linux installation process. These would of been:

- booting from a CD

- starting from DOS

- or even using actual 3.5 or even 5 1/4 inch older format floppy discs

now with more modern , more up to date and powerful computers the options have increased with the advent of integrated powered USB drives.

As well the actual size of the installation program and programs have increased greatly in size , functions and overall complexity.

Wit these powered USB hubs, and the wrath of new available media , that has also come down vastly in price while increasing exponentially in sizes have increased the options of boot devices for installs as well as the overall Linux install convenience. These include – flash drives , external cd/dvd drives to a great degree ( if will work when powered up and attached to the booting computer- not all seem to be supported , there does not seem to a CD/ DVD reader standard for this ) , flash drives , other flash memory formats such as SD and “Flash ” cards if a reader is built into the computer or a usb based convertor available, and external USB hard drives , or even other hard drives attached to the IDE or Sata connectors on the computer motherboards.

Relegate your USB external hard …

Modify xorg.conf for better performance | TuxRadar – You should only do manual configuration if the automatic and GUI tools aren’t working. xorg.conf configuration has many traps and is the number one problem area for new linux/bsd users. – Currently the automatic tools will fail if … ripps (not verified) – May 24, 2009 @ 8:01am. For radeon driver users, if your having poor performance with applications like Flash, ‘Option “AccelDFS” “true”‘ can greatly speed up flash. With VMware Server you can create and run guest operating systems (“virtual machines”) such as Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, etc. under a host operating system. This has the benefit that you can run multiple operating systems on the same hardware which saves a lot of money, and you can move virtual machines from one VMware Server to …
